The Storm is an older model fighter from the Bontoria War which erupted about 220 star-years ago. Unique at its time, it was the first starfighter equipped with an experimental phase shift technology which rendered the craft impossible to hit.
In later years, Microsol acquired the technology for its somewhat popular USP craft series. Unfortunately, it required critical extra space, severely limited the size and weight of the craft, and required excessive energy boosts.
